Mount Taranaki
ISO 640 / 66mm / f4 / 15 min
Standing at 2,500+ metres tall, Taranaki Maunga (Mt Taranaki) is the second tallest mountain in the North Island of Aotearoa.
Mount Taranaki is the beating heart of the Taranaki region and is of huge cultural significance to local Maori iwi (tribes).
All throughout the year, Mt Taranaki is a popular adventure spot, with hikers scaling the mountain in summer and skiiers enjoying the snow fields in winter.
If you look closely, you can see faint white dots and lines on the mountain. These are the headlamps and torches of hikers.
